Love, Joy, Peace...
PSALM 13 (NRSV)

1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I bear pain in my soul,
and have sorrow in my heart all day long?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God!
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,
4 and my enemy will say, “I have prevailed”;
my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.
5 But I trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Leader: God of grace and peace, we come before You acknowledging that we live in a world that is often marked by brokenness. Our hearts are weary, our communities are divided, and the wounds of injustice run deep. Yet we come to You with hope, trusting that You are the God who heals, restores, and makes all things new. Hear our prayers as we bring our burdens before You, and let Your peace flow over us.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: For peace in places of conflict around the world, where violence and suffering seem unending. We pray for all affected by war, for refugees fleeing their homes, and for leaders working toward peace. God, break down walls of hatred and misunderstanding, and bring Your justice and healing to every nation.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: For those who are hurting in body, mind, or spirit, and for all who feel broken, anxious, or afraid. We lift up those battling illness, those facing mental health challenges, and those who feel the weight of isolation. Surround them with Your love and bring comfort to their pain.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: For our communities, that we may be agents of Your peace in our relationships, neighborhoods, and workplaces. Where there is division, help us sow unity; where there is fear, let us offer hope; and where there is sorrow, may we bring comfort. Empower us to walk alongside others, showing compassion and kindness in all that we do.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: For all who suffer from the injustices of this world—for those oppressed, marginalized, and unheard. Open our eyes to see the suffering around us and give us courage to stand against injustice and inequality. Teach us to love as You love and to seek peace that is rooted in Your righteousness.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: For those grieving the loss of loved ones, homes, or dreams, and for all who carry heavy burdens of sorrow. Comfort them with Your presence, and remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted, holding every tear and bringing new life from the ashes.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: For Your church, here and around the world, that we may be bearers of Your peace and love. May we be a light in the darkness, reflecting Your kindness, mercy, and grace. Guide our words and actions, that we may be faithful in sharing Your good news and living out Your mission of peace.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
Leader: Finally, we pray for ourselves. In our own places of brokenness, where we feel distant, lost, or weary, we ask for Your healing touch. Renew us, Lord, that we may know Your peace deep within, and give us strength to be vessels of Your love and healing for others.
Response: Lord, hear our prayer.
MATTHEW 11: 28-30
28 "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
